March's Learning

We have had another fun-filled, busy month in Year Three!

In English, we were learning about fairy tales and we wrote our own version of The Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf. At the end of our topic, we invited someone from our family in to hear our fairly tale and edit part of it together.

In maths, we continued with our learning about fractions; our learning journey finished with using fractions to design a pizza topping.

We then started learning about mass and capacity; our learning journey finished with a Crack the Code challenge and a treasure hunt in the playground.

In science, we wrote a letter to Framer Bloom to give him some advice about the suitable soil to use to grow his crops. We then found out more about different soils, how fossils are formed and even made our own fossil.

We had a Science Day where a visiting scientist came in.  We had an environmental science lesson where we found out about why we shouldn't throw plastic into the ocean.  We also had a bridge challenge: we needed to work in groups and design and make a bridge that would hold a weight (we had a budget which we needed to stick to too!).

In history, we found out more about mummification and we wrote our names in hieroglyphics. Our topic ended with a history / D.T. workshop where we created different sized pyramids.

We also did some independent research and created a class fact book all about Ancient Egypt. Click here to see an example of one.

In art, we continued to find out about different patterns and we designed a printing block to create a print for the front of our best book.

In D.T., we were finding out about the 5 food groups and we designed and made a healthy cous cous snack. It was delicious!

In P.S.H.C.E, we were learning about different risks and how we can keep ourselves safe.

In French, we were learning about different fruits.

In music, we carried on learning our class song and learning how to play the glockenspiel to accompany  the song.

In indoor and outdoor P.E., we were creating an Egyptian Dance routine, developing our throwing and catching skills and some classes started to go swimming.
